A Global Template Contract for O&M

By Mate Heisz, Business Analyst, SolarPower Europe

On 31 May 2017 at Intersolar in Munich, SolarPower Europe organised a round table discussion on the global O&M template contract jointly developed with IRENA and the Terrawatt Initiative (TWI). The event was opened by Henning Wuester, Director of the Knowledge, Policy and Finance Centre of IRENA and Nicole Iseppi, Coordinator of the Global Solar Energy Standardisation Initiative, TWI. Vassilis Papaeconomou, Managing Director of Alectris and Chair of the SolarPower Europe O&M Task Force, presented the main assumptions of the template contract currently being developed. Subsequently, Rhianna Wilsher from Bird & Bird talked about differing approaches towards services and risk. After the presentations, nearly 20 participants representing O&M service providers, law firms, banks, associations and other institutions discussed about the assumptions presented.

SolarPower Europe is leading the O&M workstream of the Global Solar Energy Standardisation Initiative (SESI), a joint initiative of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Terrawatt Initiative (TWI). The objective of the SESI is to bring industry stakeholders together to develop standardised contract templates (including a template O&M contract) that will help streamline (and also increase the speed of) the development and financing process for solar projects around the globe.
