Industrial Competitiveness Strategy Kick-off

By: James Watson, CEO

Yesterday (5 September), SolarPower Europe had the kick-off meeting of our new Industrial Competitiveness Task Force. The meeting was a real success with a lot of constructive and useful input from European manufacturers and downstream players on what Europe needs to do to ensure maximum value in the whole PV supply chain.

This meeting followed our scoping workshop which we held on 31 May at Intersolar. Our work is going to feed in the European Commission’s own Clean Energy Industrial Competitiveness Forum, something we have been pushing to have for some time, and are delighted that it is now starting to take shape.

We hope that solar PV will be fast-tracked within the work of this forum and will be developing inputs and suggestions in terms of how to assess and measure our sector’s competitiveness as well as what tools Europe can use to boost this.

The next meeting of the Task Force, which will be open exclusively to members of SolarPower Europe, will take place in the afternoon of 9 October in our offices in Brussels.
