Trade update: Appeal Committee Vote
By Kristina Thoring, Political Communications Advisor, SolarPower Europe
On 17th February, EU Member States trade policy representatives met in the first Appeal Committee convened, to vote on the European Commission's compromise proposal of 18 months' duration for anti-dumping trade measures on solar panels and cells imported from China, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
The Commission had originally proposed a 24 months extension. The measures were discussed and the option for an extension of 18 months carried the most support. It is therefore likely that the new anti-dumping and anti-subsidy regulations will propose an 18 month extension.
The Commission is now expected to open interim reviews into the Minimum Import Price undertaking and the administrative burden of the measures.
The final decision of the Commission is expected on 3rd March 2017.
