SolarPower Europe visits SMA and Wacker
By: James Watson, CEO
During July and August, James Watson, CEO of SolarPower Europe visited a number of our members to see their production plants in Europe. Gaining first hand insight into the operations of member companies ahead of the launch of the industrial strategy for solar taskforce, is crucial to support the work the SolarPower Europe team are delivering on industrial strategy. In July James visited the Burghausen plant of Wacker to see the production processes of the world’s leading polysilicon manufacturer. The impressive works employ more than 3000 people on polysilicon production alone, and more than 10,000 in total. In August James visited Kassel and viewed the production operations and R&D facilities of SMA, the global revenue leader in inverters and one of Europe’s leading producers of inverter and storage solutions. The impressive facilities included a quality assurance system checking every inverter for performance and durability in the field. The visit also included an overview of the SMA Solar academy that trains and supports practitioners of solar.
These innovative companies hospitality was greatly appreciated and the knowledge shared hugely valuable.
If you would like the CEO, or members of the SolarPower Europe team to visit your facilities, please let us know.
Many thanks again to these committed members!
