by Daria Szczurek - 7 January 2025
Valentine Lassalas, Head of Public Affairs - Europe at Akuo is the Chair of SolarPower Europe's Advocacy Committee Workstream. The Advocacy Committee is a cornerstone of SolarPower Europe’s efforts to shape the future of solar energy in Europe. It brings together companies from across the value chain to collaborate and co-construct the right strategy to advocate for policies that enable the growth of solar energy.

What is the Advocacy Committee, and why is it important?

The Advocacy Committee is a cornerstone of SolarPower Europe’s efforts to shape the future of solar energy in Europe. It brings together companies from across the value chain to collaborate and co-construct the right strategy to advocate for policies that enable the growth of solar energy.

Its importance lies in its ability to transform shared industry challenges into collective action. Our role is to ensure that solar energy remains at the forefront of clean energy transition efforts by advocating for smarter regulations, more ambitious targets, and a supportive framework for innovation. By engaging directly with policymakers through the united voice of the Advocacy Committee, we contribute to key legislative processes and ensure that the solar sector’s needs are understood and properly addressed.

The Advocacy Committee is a platform for turning ambition into impact, paving the way towards a sustainable energy future.

Why should companies join the workstream?

By joining the Advocacy Committee, companies gain access to valuable insights, build connections with industry peers, and strengthen their ability to navigate and shape a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

But beyond this, companies also come together within the Advocacy Committee to shape the future of solar energy. By joining the committee, companies are no longer just participants in the energy transition; they become active players influencing the policies that govern it. Our workstream brings the industry’s diverse voices together to share insights, challenges, and solutions. It is a collective effort to ensure the regulations shaping our sector reflect the realities we face and the opportunities we can unlock.

Collaboration lies at the heart of our work. By joining, you will work alongside industry peers to help us leverage the most accurate collective expertise to guide policy across Europe. By contributing your voice, you will help create a stronger, united front for the solar industry, amplifying the influence of our sector and tackling shared challenges together.

Joining isn't just about staying ahead - it's about moving the entire industry forward.

What will the future of the Advocacy Committee look like?

The future of the Advocacy Committee is one of bold ambition. Our goal is to continue elevating the industry’s voice, bringing it closer to decision-makers who have the power to shape Europe’s energy landscape. Alongside SolarPower Europe’s Board of Directors, our goal is to reinforce EU decision-makers' understanding of our solar industry.

We will focus on ensuring that energy transition remains central to Europe’s climate, economic, and industrial strategies.

The story of the Advocacy Committee has always been about progress, impact, and collaboration. Its next chapter promises to be just as transformative!
