Sustainable Solar Champion 2023

We are honored to have been awarded Solar Sustainability Champion 2023. We are very grateful for the recognition, involving a Project that required the best of us, pushing hard in order to reach its main goals, but honestly, very gratifying at the same time. Earning this award, taking into account the rest of challenging proposals that were presented, truly means a lot to us, and makes us proud of our work.

Cedillo Solar Community consists of the installation of a huge project for self-consumption that offers extra benefits for the entire population of the municipality, reducing the electricity costs of all villagers by up to 50%.  Anyone who is registered in Cedillo or who will be registered in the next five years can take advantage of it. In the same way, money saving conditions are also applied to businesses that operate in the municipality. This project aims to both, encourage people to stay in Cedillo, thus stopping population decline, and make the municipality a more attractive place to live, work and invest, while the communities are provided with green energy.

Renewable energy sources have many benefits, including those yet to be discovered. One of the main benefits is environmental, in the role renewables play reducing the effects of global warming. Renewables could also be a useful tool  to tackle global challenges such a changing demographics. Promoting sustainability within the solar sector leads to an improvement in the relationship between energy and society, empowering citizens with clean energy, and protecting the planet.

Celebrating events such as Solar Sustainability Award 2023 encourage the companies to come up with new initiatives, unleashing all the advantages renewables have to offer. It is also a great way to share of knowledge and information across the sector, leading to new collaboration.
