On 1 March, SolarPower Europe published the sector’s key recommendations on the draft EU Battery Regulation.
The new Regulation is a timely proposal for the update of the Battery Directive, providing a solid legislative basis for a competitive and well-functioning EU battery market, with enhanced sustainability and safety features in batteries. A strong policy framework is needed for stationary batteries, which are fundamental enablers of flexibility in a renewable-based energy system
Among the recommendations, we flag the importance to ensure proportionate obligations for smaller market actors and develop an appropriate framework for carbon footprint reporting.
