European Solar Day - 21 June - Showcasing Solar Stories Across Europe

29 May 2026

European Solar Day returns in 2026 with a new theme: Solar Stories, a celebration of the people, projects, and communities driving Europe’s energy transition.

Building on the success of previous editions, this year’s campaign shifts the focus from facts and figures to real-life impact. Across Europe, solar energy is already making a difference, powering homes, supporting businesses, strengthening communities, and helping citizens take control of their energy future.

With Solar Stories, SolarPower Europe and its 90+ partners aim to bring these experiences to life.

“Solar energy is a cornerstone of Europe’s clean, secure, and affordable energy system. But beyond the numbers, it is already delivering tangible benefits to citizens and businesses across the continent. Through Solar Stories, we highlight these real-world impacts and demonstrate how solar is driving Europe’s energy transition from the ground up,” said Amalia Speleta, Senior Communications Campaign and Partnership Advisor.

European Solar Day is a pan-European initiative, bringing together national associations, industry stakeholders, civil society, and citizens to celebrate solar energy and its benefits.

On 21 June, partners across Europe will mark the day through social media storytelling, local activations, and showcasing national and regional solar success stories. Follow the stories across social media with the #EuropeanSolarDay hashtag.

Together, these actions create a shared European moment, amplifying the role of solar in building a stronger and more secure energy system.
