SolarPower Europe launches new Solar Facts page

27 November 2025

SolarPower Europe has launched a new interactive Solar Facts webpage, featuring answers to the most commonly asked questions about solar energy.

Solar energy is the continent’s fastest-growing energy source. From just 15 GW in 2010 to more than 350 GW installed across Europe today, solar now generates enough electricity to power around 75 million European households — that's the population of Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, and Poland. By 2030, solar PV is expected to become the largest renewable energy source in the world (IEA).

Amalia Speleta, Communications Campaign Advisor at SolarPower Europe and Solar Facts Project Lead said, "With solar PV growing at record speed, it’s important that the public can access clear, fact-based information about the technology shaping Europe’s energy landscape. Solar Facts brings together verified data, simple explanations, and myth-busting insights to make solar understandable and accessible for everyone”.

Originally developed as part of the European Solar Day campaign in collaboration with SolarPower Europe’s members, the Guide supports the awareness-raising of solar power’s essential role in Europe’s clean energy transition.

The dedicated Solar Facts resource offers a user-friendly overview of key solar facts and aims to strengthen public understanding of, and trust in, solar as the cornerstone of Europe’s energy future.

The Solar Facts guide is also available in ten languages on the European Solar Day website
