National Associations Committee

Solar is the driving force behind Europe’s energy transition, supporting the EU to meet its energy, security and competitiveness goals. Now, more than ever, we must stand united to ensure these objectives are met.

The pace of solar deployment differs across EU member states, as does the supporting legislation. Europe can reach its energy goals only if it uses expertise from national markets, and EU rules are implemented across the continent.

Grids, flexibility, electrification, supply chain resilience: all these topics require perspectives from around the Union.

Furthermore, implementation of EU legislation at Member State level requires a coordinated approach to ensure regulation flows seamlessly from Brussels to EU capitals. The EU recently adopted a wide array of legislation aimed at boosting solar on rooftops, strengthening energy markets, accelerating permitting and making supply chains more resilient.

National Associations Committee
SolarPower Europe’s National Associations Committee brings together representatives from over 45 national solar PV, storage and renewables associations in the European Union and beyond. The Committee pulls in the expertise from all Member States to shape EU policy that will be beneficial for the development of solar PV across markets.

The Committee monitors the development of national solar markets and their underpinning regulations. As a platform to share regulatory best practices, the Committee shares internal presentations and publications of reports, while coordinating national and European advocacy activities.

The Committee also meets once a year in Brussels for its National Association Strategy Days where representatives come together to shape SolarPower Europe’s long-term vision and exchange with EU policymakers on the future of solar PV.

The current activities of the Committee include the implementation of the Green Deal legislation across EU member states, supporting the advocacy on the Clean Industrial Deal and exchanging intelligence on national developments.
