Senior Business Development Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented person to assist in our Business Development Team.

Location:

Brussels, Belgium (hybrid)

Deadline:

23 February 2026

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Senior Business Development Officer will be responsible for driving the membership growth and commercial revenues (e.g., sponsorships, events, programmes) that expand SolarPower Europe’s impact and financial sustainability. You will also own a portfolio of priority accounts, lead new member acquisition, and build multiyear partnerships that advance SolarPower Europe's mission while delivering clear value to members and sponsors. Please note that this role requires travel of approximately 20–30% across Europe to attend member meetings, events, and industry forums.

1) Membership Growth & Account Expansion
- Build, manage, and convert a high-quality pipeline of corporate and association prospects across the European solar value chain (manufacturers, IPPs/developers, utilities, finance, EPC/O\&M, digital & flexibility).
- Lead end-to-end new member acquisition: prospecting, discovery, solutioning of membership benefits, proposal, negotiation, and onboarding.
- Deepen engagement with existing members to drive renewals, upgrades, and cross-portfolio participation (working groups, reports, campaigns, events).

2) Sponsorships
-  Design and sell sponsorship offerings for priority events and initiatives; coordinate delivery with Comms, Events, and Market Intelligence teams.

3) Stakeholder & Opportunity Leadership
- Act as a trusted counterpart to senior external stakeholders and industry leaders; orchestrate internal experts to craft compelling value propositions.
- Maintain rigorous opportunity management in the CRM; forecast accurately and drive disciplined pipeline hygiene.

Profile

The ideal candidate has the following professional profile:
- At least 5 years of B2B business development or membership/partnership sales in energy, cleantech, or a policy driven association/NGO environment.
- Proven track record delivering new revenue and closing complex, multistakeholder deals (C-suite to technical leads).
- Strong familiarity with the European energy landscape, solar value chain, and Brussels based policy ecosystem.
- Consultative selling skills: discovery, solution mapping to membership/partnership value, and negotiation of win-win agreements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English; additional EU languages (e.g., FR/DE/ES/IT) are a plus.
- CRM proficiency (e.g., Teamleader or others) and data-driven pipeline management.

Nice-to-have:
- Experience commercialising events, sponsorships, and thought-leadership products (reports, webinars, programmes).
- Background working with trade associations, market intelligence products, or policy advocacy in Team player initiatives.
- Existing network across European solar and flexibility/storage stakeholders.

Competencies

- Team player,
- Strategic, outcomes-driven, and resilient (ability to perform under pressure); comfortable owning a target and operating with autonomy,
- Relationship builder with high credibility and integrity; excellent stakeholder orchestration,
- Clear communicator who can translate policy and market insights into compelling member value,
-  Structured, detail-oriented, and rigorous on process, forecasting, and follow through.

Our offer

- A permanent Belgian contract with a competitive remuneration package;
- Employee benefits paid by SolarPower Europe make this offer even more attractive: public transportation allowance, work-from-home allowance, dental and hospitalisation insurance, and lunch vouchers.
