Solar, storage and flexibility are the driving forces behind Europe’s energy transition, providing energy security and enhancing European competitiveness.
The European Commission has set ambitious targets for solar power, with the objective to reach 750 GW installed capacity by 2030. This is achievable so long as we have the right legislative framework to support the sector.
Upcoming legislative files will be instrumental in ensuring the right foundations for solar and storage to continue to grow in Europe, such as the Grids Package, Industrial Accelerator Act, Energy Security Framework, Electrification Action Plan and 2040 Renewable Energy Framework.
Now is the moment to design long-term vision and strategy on the political and market evolutions surrounding solar. The narratives around energy prices, industrial decarbonisation, cleantech manufacturing, and energy security have critical consequences on the investment signals for solar.
The Committee meets monthly with the aim of maximising the impact of SolarPower Europe’s positions and advocacy on critical legislative files, such as the implementation of the Fit-for-55 legislation and negotiation of published and upcoming texts: Grids Package, Industrial Accelerator Act, Energy Security framework, Electrification Action Plan, 2040 Renewable Energy framework. The Committee also provides opportunities for its members to meet regularly with EU policymakers, receive first-hand information about latest developments and share insights directly.
