Electrification Alliance Recommendations for an Electrification Alliance Plan
Prioritise EU electrification targets. Invest in grids and flexibility. Empower citizens and businesses.
Read the paperIn 100 days, we can:
- Install solar farms that power 2 million homes.
- Reduce emissions equal to Croatia’s yearly total with heat pumps.
- Build wind farms that deliver Sweden’s yearly power demand.
In 100 days, we can make significant steps towards our net-zero future.
We’re excited that European Commission President von der Leyen’s Mission Letter to the new Energy Commissioner-Designate Dan Jørgensen, calls for an Electrification Action Plan!
Now, within its first 100 days, the new European Commission must publish this plan.
The plan must:
Prioritise EU electrification targets
We need to increase the rate of electrification by:
- A minimum of 35% electrification by 2030.
- 50% electrification by 2040.
- Up to 71% electrification by 2050.
Invest in grids and flexibility
- Massive investments in electricity grids.
- An immediate reform of the TEN-E Regulation and Ten-Year Network Development Plan processes for both Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Distribution Sytems Operators (DSOs).
- An increase in energy system flexibility by 133% in 2030, and by 250% from 2030-2050.
Empower citizens and businesses
- Electrifying buildings, industry & transport.
- Addressing worker and skills shortages.
1 plan. 100 days. Let’s move electrification to the fast track.
