GET.invest
GET.invest is a European programme which supports investments in decentralised renewable energy projects. The programme targets private sector business and project developers, financiers and regulators to build sustainable energy markets. Services include project and business development support, market information as well as matchmaking, and assistance in implementing regulatory processes. They are delivered globally and across different market segments. GET.invest is supported by the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Austria, and works closely with initiatives and industry associations in the energy sector. As part of this cooperation, SolarPower Europe leverages its network to mobilise European and international solar energy companies to support GET.invest’s objectives through the organisation of informative events, and provides capacity building to associations and private sector stakeholders from the Sub-Saharan African region.

International partnerships

IRENA Coalition for Action
The IRENA Coalition for Action forms a key international network to discuss industry trends, determine actions, share knowledge and exchange best practices with the vision to drive the global energy transition in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Today, the Coalition brings together close to 100 leading renewable energy players including private sector companies, industry associations, civil society, research institutes and intergovernmental organisations. The Coalition’s Business and Investors Group, which SolarPower Europe co-chairs together with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), enables a dialogue between industry and governments, suggesting actions to increase investments and the share of renewables in the global energy mix.

Global Solar Council (GSC)
The Global Solar Council (GSC) is the voice of the world’s solar energy industry on the global stage, a non-profit body based in Washington D.C. and representing national, regional and international associations as well as leading solar sector corporations. SolarPower Europe’s Director of Global Affairs Máté Heisz, is member of the GSC Board of Directors and Chair-elect for 2023-2024.

renewAfrica
Launched in 2019, the renewAfrica Initiative is an industry-backed initiative advocating for the creation of a European comprehensive programme for renewable energy investments in Africa to be promoted and owned by EU institutions. SolarPower Europe is proud to be one of 27 leading European actors across the whole RE value chain supporting the initiative. The ultimate goal is to stimulate the EU to create and adopt a single and shared EU-led de-risking programme. This will enable a pipeline of bankable RE projects to be built across Africa in support of the continent’s clean energy development.
Emerging markets workstream
SolarPower Europe's Emerging Markets workstream works to identify business opportunities for solar companies in new, high profile and thriving markets. It also focuses on reducing the barriers to solar deployment by addressing the key regulatory and administrative challenges to help improve the bankability of projects in emerging markets.
