Solar Diversity Champion Awards 2025
Online
The Solar Diversity Champion Awards, launched by SolarPower Europe in 2021, will return in 2025 to recognise organisations in the European solar sector that have made outstanding efforts towards achieving Diverstity, Equity and Inclusion.
Solar Diversity Champion Awards 2025
The Solar Diversity Champion Awards are back for 2025, shining a spotlight on the organisations driving change in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across the European solar sector. First launched by SolarPower Europe in 2021, the awards have grown into a key moment of recognition for companies walking the talk on DEI.
This year’s edition comes at a pivotal time. Embracing diversity and inclusion is a catalyst for innovation, resilience, and long-term success. Solar is already leading the way among renewables, with women making up 40% of the workforce (IRENA). But there’s still a long way to go, particularly when it comes to boosting the presence of underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and leadership roles.
The Solar Diversity Champion Awards 2025 will celebrate organisations that have demonstrated a clear commitment to building inclusive, equitable, and diverse work environments. By recognising such leadership, SolarPower Europe aims to inspire more companies to prioritise DEI, strengthening both the social and innovative fabric of the solar industry.
Meet the 3 finalists of the Solar Diversity Champion Awards 2025! 🏆
We are honoured to announce the three outstanding organisations shortlisted for this year’s Solar Diversity Champion Awards, recognising leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across the European solar sector:
🎉 Boralex Inc.
At Boralex, we are working to embed equity, diversity, and inclusion into both our strategy and our culture. As part of our 2030 strategic plan to build 7 GW while cultivating a safe and inclusive environment, we focus on four pillars: inclusive recruitment, employee support, training and awareness, and responsible governance. We offer low-cost, high-impact programs such as a support platform for illness and disability, unconscious bias training, leadership development for women, and mental health resources. These initiatives foster pride, fairness, and belonging—making EDI more accessible, tangible, a shared responsibility and a driver of transformation.
🎉 Fundación Generation España
Fundación Generation Spain was the first social organization in our country to launch free training-for-employment programs in the green economy. The Photovoltaic Solar Panel Installer programme offers opportunities to people traditionally excluded from the labor market: long-term unemployed individuals, women, migrants, and those with limited education or experience. It combines technical training with mentorship, employability coaching, and soft-skills development to ensure labor market integration. Since 2022, it has trained 328 people, achieving a 90% graduation rate and 85% employment within 180 days. The initiative creates real change, measurable impact, and a replicable model that ensures no one is left behind in Europe’s clean energy future.
🎉 Women in Solar Energy (Ireland) - WISE(IR)
Women in Solar Energy (Ireland) – WISE(Ir) – is a network for women working or aspiring to work in the solar sector in Ireland. WISE(Ir)’s mission is to advocate for the attraction of women to and full inclusion of women in the Irish solar sector. WISE(Ir) strives to achieve this mission by:
- Speaking and making submissions on the need for women in the Irish solar sector;
- Promoting women in solar to ensure female voices are heard at decision-making tables, at events and in the media;
- Holding professional networking, social and educational events;
- Encouraging and assisting organisations to become more gender inclusive and equitable.
