Solar Diversity Champion Awards 2025

Online

The Solar Diversity Champion Awards, launched by SolarPower Europe in 2021, will return in 2025 to recognise organisations in the European solar sector that have made outstanding efforts towards achieving Diverstity, Equity and Inclusion.

Solar Diversity Champion Awards 2025

The Solar Diversity Champion Awards are back for 2025, shining a spotlight on the organisations driving change in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) across the European solar sector. First launched by SolarPower Europe in 2021, the awards have grown into a key moment of recognition for companies walking the talk on DEI.

This year’s edition comes at a pivotal time. Embracing diversity and inclusion is a catalyst for innovation, resilience, and long-term success. Solar is already leading the way among renewables, with women making up 40% of the workforce (IRENA). But there’s still a long way to go, particularly when it comes to boosting the presence of underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and leadership roles.

The Solar Diversity Champion Awards 2025 will celebrate organisations that have demonstrated a clear commitment to building inclusive, equitable, and diverse work environments. By recognising such leadership, SolarPower Europe aims to inspire more companies to prioritise DEI, strengthening both the social and innovative fabric of the solar industry.

Spotlight on the 2024 Winner

In 2024, Sonnedix was awarded the Gold Solar Diversity Champion for its exceptional commitment to fostering gender equality and inclusion across its global operations. Their success was driven by a flagship internship programme aimed at supporting underrepresented talent — particularly women and people from diverse ethnic backgrounds — into the solar sector. Over five years, more than 50 paid internships were offered, 40% of which led to permanent employment, with women making up 56% of participants. This initiative is part of Sonnedix’s wider DEI strategy, which also includes localised country programmes, an internal inclusion scorecard, and a global DEI summit.

Competition Format

Applications submitted by companies in the solar sector will be evaluated by a selected jury of experts. The three finalists will present their DEI journeys and initiatives during the Solar Diversity Champion Webinar on 1 October 2025.

The audience will vote during the event, and the gold, silver, and bronze winners of the Solar Diversity Champion 2025 award will be announced live.
